The horses on La Paz are held in large corrals in herds. This allows
the constitution of ranking among themselves and famaliarisation
amongst them. In addition the Andalucian is born with an unbelievable
noblesse, but despite all that one should never forget that they are
animals!
There are some rules for group riding in the countryside which are for
everyones' safety:
Always keep as much distance as possible from the rider in front and
behind to allow you to stop at anytime or move away to one side.
"Gathering" can cause injury to the horses and riders and make the
horses sensitive to restrictive spacing.
When galloping do not overtake. Stay in the position you started in.
There can be bends in the distance that are too narrow for two horses.
This precaution allows horses and riders to spot and avoid branches,
stones or ruts in the ground.
The leader is not to be overtaken. He or she knows the routes, the
difficulties and the horses. He or she has to consider the weaker
rider in the group. As in all groups there are riders of greater or lesser
experience.
Should you encounter a problem of any sort inform your leader. He or
she knows the terrain and the horses and can give unbelievable
advice and tips.
